Holden Beach is serviced by two marinas: (1) Holden Beach Marina located on the ICW next to the Holden Beach Bridge and (2) Hughes Marina located at the mouth of the Shallotte River/Shallotte Inlet.

 This marina, owned and operated by Mercer's 3 Enterprises, sells Wellcraft and Crestliner boats. Located at the base of the Intracoastal Waterway bridge to Holden Beach, just a stone's throw from Oak Island, it is regarded as one of the friendliest marinas on the North Carolina coast. It has a full range of services, including fuel and transient slips. It also offers dry and wet storage, boat repair and cleaning

Hughes Marina is available for overnight accommodations, with transient slips, fuel and shore power. However, there is a sand bar at the mouth of the Shallotte river and the current is particularly swift here, so boaters need to pay careful attention while docking. If you'd like a night ashore, the marina has a motel and restaurant on the property
